Final commercial departure

The final commercial departure by TUI from Doncaster Sheffield was filmed by a live stream on YouTube. I happened to come across it by accident but so pleased that I was able to view it live from the comfort of my bed.

It's worth watching and tbh it was an emotional experience witnessing the amount of staff on the tarmac looking on. I was wondering what was going through their minds on such a sad occasion but the highlight was the final communication between the tower and the flight deck.

EGCN NOTAMs make sad reading. Hope all employees find suitable re-employment.

Interesting to note that Wizz seem to have had a higher proportion of their flights into LBA today successfully land compared to other operators, many of whose flights diverted or were cancelled.

Depends upon the category of ILS, aircraft capabilities, airline & crew approvals.

Indeed. It was mentioned from the perspective of those who suggested that Wizz moving operations to LBA from DSA could be shooting themselves in the foot with a potential disruption to operations due reduced visibility. (LBA's wind is a different matter, of course.)

LBA made a big investment in there ILS after some years of being almost shut for months whilst places like Teesside have not.

Does the Airbus have any advantage over the 737 when conducting a CatIII landing at LBA?

ISTR Monarch had a better record than RYR/Jet2 under those conditions.

What that got to do with MME?
MME doesn't suffer too much with fog issue although granted these have got worse since the Tees Barrage went it.
Love to see you hating on Teesside..... again.

It's a true fact, smell the onions. No hate at all. Teesside lacked investment in the late 90s until the latter days of Peel when the terminal was improved, lighting and ILS but still CAT 1. The current team are hopefully doing their best.

Take a look in the movement records you will see weeks in the winter when Teesside took diversions from Leeds and Newcastle and now nothing as Leeds and Newcastle has the better kit. And did I mention fog closures at Teesside well NO!
