Have any airline exec’s, start up or otherwise, ever lost money? They are generally playing with other people’s cash.

That’s right…..pay 50 grand for an endorsement or sign a return of service agreement for three years. Pack up and move to Bonzatown, buy a house, get the kids in the best Bonzatown school, get a bonza barby and a bonza dog…..all the while watching your bonza bank account go backwards. I’m not saying don’t do it, just do it with open eyes…….endorsed, single, living on a couch…go for it. Anybody else, be very careful what you sign up to, and whatever you do DO NOT PART WITH ANY CASH…..

Going to be enough problems crewing the above three operators in the coming decades once generations changeover, let alone some other token operators in the mix.
Despite what people think of him, Geoff Dixon was spot on when he said "Australia can support 1.5 airlines". QF and JQ are the 1.0 and ZL/VA are the .5 - good luck to bonza but I fear it will be another Compass/Compass II, OzJet, Strategic, Air Australia, Tiger, et al.

How many more lessons does there need to be that this won't work. DJ/VA were only successful because the old ".5" (Ansett) exited the market.

So, middle 2022 is like 8 months away. Are there 737 Max airframes available, sims, training staff and the ability to obtain an AOC on tap to make that realistic? And if not, can we assume the people behind this are willing to make pronouncements without the ability to fulfil them?

Yes, I believe 777 Partners already has a very good deal with Boeing for 737-MAX. Personally, I would not underestimate this announcement.....

Did they take their name from the Bonza Dog Doo-Dah Band?

I think "Bonza" is "Bonkers" but, that's just my opinion. Anyway - first job is out. Looking for a Head of Flying Operations @ https://www.linkedin.com/posts/flybo...370328064-3Ecn

TJ would have to be a contender. All that experience with Australian airline operations.

There must be others I'd imagine?
And when it bites the dust it can be called.... Gonza....

Ok, hat, coat... 🤣

I’m still dumbfounded by the name “Bonza”. Just reeks of nasty, cheap and okka all in one. A first class effort by those in the marketing team.

I tell you what Lookleft, we may not see eye to eye but that comment is pure gold! I second that vote for you to be Ppruner of the year.

The new Bonza COO is a dopey mutt who used to work for the then VB in operations. Also worked as COO with Airnorth and more recently worked as President or Vice President of something with ground handler Swisscheese. I would like to see him try to tame TJ when he is having one of his famous anger outbursts.

I've gone all misty eyed P377, lockdown and standown does strange things to a bloke. I hope Bonza does well enough to have a regional offshoot called Grouse.

Seriously, I don't think the word bonza has been in the vernacular since Bazza McKenzie was number one at the box office. Its as cringe worthy as Kevin 07 mangling Strine with "fair shake of the sauce bottle".

I’m surprised that no one has thought of naming the airline after themselves and styling them self on a retired F1 driver….. oh wait a second…..
