TK627 30-DEC-19 INCIDENT AT PHC

Heard report this morning that TC-LOL operating as TK627 IST-PHC 30-DEC-19 had "crash landed" at PHC/DNPO (Port Harcourt, Nigeria)

Report that there was "bad weather" which considering the smog around here (mix of oil particles and Harmattan) is probably due viz.

I have looked on the net and can find nothing, Flightradar24 shows last position somewhere between Abuja and PHC at 27,000 ft - descending, but am pretty sure the aircraft did land at PHC and blocked the runway. AF Freighter diverted back to Paris because of this blockage (thats how we got the news).

Anyone got any more news ??

A330 THY at PHC...could this be some sort of KTM?

Curious where it says:
*Sources claim the captain landed the aircraft next to the runway due to confusion of runway lights.*

Thankfully no victims at all...as the one in KTM, a pretty new 333 with only some days age in company.

Incident: THY A333 at Port Harcourt on Dec 31st 2019, runway excursion, tyre damage

THY Uça?? Pist D???na ?ndi ? Göklerdeyiz Havac?l?k Sitesi (interesting pics)

But it could be worse...Happy new year to all.

Thanks JanetFlight, I guess we wait and see if TK has a replacement A/C to service this particular part of the world !!

Very strange that local media did not report this as usually makes for sensational headlines mainly because of the politics at play in the NCAA.
