An interesting letter from John Anderson regarding ultralights

I was recently going through some material from the old days and found a letter from John Anderson dated 16 March 1999. Surely this can start some interesting discussion on PPRuNe.

There's never been any steps from Governments to rectify CAsA either, so we're stuffed by UN-ELECTED bureaucrts playing their own games.
This has cost the Nation and the "common wealth" very dearly indeed. $$ Billions !!
Weep for what might have been...eg the Classification of Operations Policy 1997, was it...CASA made sure they buggered that then, and they are still buggering the industry today.
NOTHING has changed except those polly-wafflers and Miniscules that come and go...and the root cause remains.
Its very depressing.
Has ScoMo got the testicular fortitude to drive anything through? I doubt it,,,Bureaucracy rules OK !
Happy New Year.
At least this year you can re-cycle your submission to the last Senate RRAT and the hard working Mr Forsyth.

No wonder CAsA is stuffed. Fax transmitted 09/03/1989, but they only got it out of the in-tray 16/03/1999, more than a decade later....

The swamp needs emptying.
I understand someone else on the planet has the same idea.

Trouble is BD US Rights and Liberties leave our ' democracy' for dead.
But you are right ...the Canberra swamp needs draining , drying out and burning off.
But how to achieve that, when most politicians' priorities / efforts are towards getting back into power at the next election, and have no idea or interest in GA or aviation as a benefit to the nation.
