Airbus dome light - bulb failure bursting/exploding

Anyone had any issues or ever experienced the actual bulb in the dome light of the Airbus 320/330/340 shattering into pieces when it fails? Had one pretty much explode to pieces, there is the cover to contain all the shattered glass fragments.

Yep. Assumed that's what the cover is for.

Yep....reasonably common on the A340-3/600 & A330. They do go with a bit of "crack" occasionally.

Thanks for the response, trying to do a bit of research as to why that is? Is it a manufacturing defect of the bulbs or is it something to do with Airbus dome light design? Any idea?

Haven't done one for a while, but vaguely recall they were silver tipped halogen filaments and get pretty hot......maybe too hot for the glass bulb?
