Coronavirus and returning flight crew

Question: what happens to operational crews returning to their home bases, from Italy? are they going to self-isolation on return or just carry on as normal after return? notice a few commercial flights on FR24 and operating in and out of Italy still.

Current state of play is rumoured to be if crew have not disembarked in Italy then they are not subject to the U.K. restrictions....doing the walk round during the turn does not count as having disembarked.

Devil

Thanyou for response Wiggy. I guess its like the Coronavirus doesn't count if you cross your fingers and count to 10 and doesn't matter that you have been exposed to possible sources.

Sorry, now is not the time for these comments

Provided an aircraft is properly cleaned it is relatively safe given the number of air changes and use of filters. The cockpit more so as effectively nobody else goes there except the odd CC and the risk of a pilot in the UK being infected today is small.

Doing a walk round staying more than 6 feet from other people and only touching your own aircraft again is negligible risk. Obviously wash your hands on boarding and disembarking. Even wipe the cockpit door handles. But risk would appear low today.

So please dont spread alarm. We do indeed have a major problem coming our way, and it can be argued that we should be ramping up our response by isolating the immunosuppressed and reducing public space population density eg by advising home working 2 days a week. There is enough to consider without claiming it doesnt matter - you may have said it tongue in cheek but these things are picked up
