UK Politics Hamsterwheel Mk III
BBC exit poll giving Con 368 seats Lab 191 SNP 55 Lib 13 an 86 majority..
We have a couple of billboards up round here, large one for Con in the local horses field as normal, and a tiny one in a garden for Lab

I'm genuinely surprised. If this exit poll reflects the outcome reasonably accurately, then it would seem that Corbyn is doomed (not at all a bad thing for the Labour party, IMHO) and we will be lumbered with the blond haired buffoon for the next five years. God helps us...

The trouble is even if they get shot of Corbyn they are still lumbered with the likes of McDonnell and Co thanks to Corbyn and Co shifting the party, the party rules and regulations plus bringing in Momentum. Good old Andrew Neil is really hammering the nail home interviewing McDonnell, who is coming across as shocked and utterly defeated.

Meanwhile, north of the North, the SNP's estimated 55 seats (out of 59 in Scotland) will surely lead to renewed calls for another independence referendum. One of those seats, East Dunbartonshire, currently belongs to Jo Swinson, leader of the Liberal Democrats, but if the exit poll is right, that will be one of the SNP's gains, leaving the LD with 13 seats total.

Naturally there will be calls for another independence vote on the back of a strong SNP showing, But the two should not be conflated and the SNP will be aware of the latest polling which shows support for an independence referendum is falling. See this poll which is only a week old:

Sturgeon knows this, but I suspect she has sharp instruments held between her shoulder blades from the ‘hot headed’ wing of the SNP and she dare not step back.

Oh dear, what a catastrophe. I’ll complete the transfer of my business to Poland as a survival measure. 90% of our sales are in the EU. Pity about the loss of jobs, tax revenue etc to the UK but I’m sure that won’t matter in Johnson’s Utopia. When the year of uncertainty is over and surprise surprise the outcome of BoJo’s efforts is that the UK is signed up to the single market so as to trade with the EU we may come home again. But probably not.

The blond didn't win this. Corbyn lost it for the Labour party.
If there is a consolation then Corbyn is finished and his Marxist pals in the Labour party have been found out.
But Johnson is essentially a disaster in the making.

I don't have a dog in this fight and, while I am basically pro Brexit (a country that does not control its own borders is not a country) I do have some sympathy for the Anti Brexit crowd. The choice of Brexit or Communism was rather unpalatable and the Lib Dems were never going anywhere.
The idea that Great Britain might become communist is just too appalling to contemplate and I fear if the Labour party does not move back to the centre, when everybody eventually tires of the Conservatives you might just get a truly communist government.
