Lionair- the third pilot
At the time just after the Lionair accident, there was much in the press about the jump seat guy who “saved” the same plane the previous day by advising the crew what to do- I.e. turn STAB OFF. The flight had identical issues as the fatal crash but flew for two hours to Mindanao I think.
Does anyone have references to that event because it seems to be very hard to find online?
It seems remarkable to me that the circumstances of the previous day are very relevant, yet they are omitted from the official report I believe.

so the story didn't develop.
However the final report contains several references the the deadheading pilot, and is the fullest account I've seen.

I think that you are right that that is were the story started, but the pilot seems to have been kept incommunicado,
so the story didn't develop.

Pretty much as I remembered, the report indicates that the pilot in the jump seat was a helpful addition to the crew as observer and advisor, but there doesn't seem to be any confirmation of the MSM reports that he was responsible for diagnosing the trim problem.
Psychophysiological entity
There was a mention of him leaving his seat??? to get some notes. It all sounded oddly calm - ignoring the description of the stick shaker.
