Unfortunately not good enough to fly RNAV SID without FD. I think the cross track deviation has to be on PFD.
By MEL, FD are mandatory on A320 family for RNAV departures.:(

Haha yes of course! But we first change the pitch to adjust the vertical speed then adjust the thrust as required to maintain the speed. We don’t adjust thrust to achieve a targeted vertical speed....

Of course pilots should be able to hand fly in any conditions. I don’t expect my colleagues to fly as accurately as the AP but he should feel confortable at any time to disconnect the AP If required...
