There has been power line inspections going on recently in NI, with PDG...although there's a fair bit of private flying in Fermanagh too. You would have thought though that it would have been a reasonably sized machine for anyone to imagine it was police / military. Absolute idiots...

The PDG powerline colour scheme is similar to the police colour scheme and a twin squirrel and EC135 are similar sized machines when viewed from any kind of distance (The PSNI historically used a twin squirrel too).

They're still idiots for shooting at any helicopter or anyone.

Used to be a weekly occurrence in the 80's Often the crews didn't know and it was ground int reports that identified the happening.

Early 90s was “interesting”, too. The projectiles got bigger as time went by.

Same in N Ire in the 70s - Friend whilst on 6 monthly check ride had problems talking with CFI. Turned out to be pigtail on helmet had been severed by small arms fire !
Also - self, empty and orbiting safely at 2000' waiting to be called in for ground Pax, noticed a person waving frantically at edge of a field.. Descended to look closer whereupon he picked up his rifle and let fire.
Other happenings - one pilot awarded DFC for flying his heli back to base having been riddled with bullets.
