It's likely that Bonza's PE Firm (777) has released funds for Bonza to lease more 737MAX rather than them making a deal with their PE Rival Bain controlled VA.

The AOC once granted will initially have restrictions placed on it around fleet numbers. It really depends how they perform within the first 6-12 months and if Canberra are happy to increase. The bar will be higher here as they are the first independent start up in a long time, Tiger took CASA to Singapore for a bit to review its standards, they don’t have the luxury of that here. Certainly started falling apart in the years after and I doubt they want a repeat of that. It’s generally that year post launch when departments start doing what they want and budgets start to get enforced, which results in standards slipping and a poor relationship towards to the regulator starts to build. Any similar behaviour at all from what I witnessed at Tiger Mark 1 towards CASA, I wouldn’t give chances anymore like they did in the past. I hope Bonza is investing heavily in back of house.

The comment around having a spare aircraft in the fleet is encouraging, clearly have some insight to the Tiger mess and the consequences of flying around aircraft that are not meant to be flying around, which results in severe consequences for the ability to continue operations.

Not sure where the Pilots are all coming from for such a fleet as mentioned above though. Seem to be having some struggles in that space, I see Rex also still advertising for 737 Pilots.

Takeoff delayed again for Aussie budget airline Bonza
“We are ticking off significant milestones but ultimately we will be happy when the regulator is happy,” Mr Jordan said.
Rookie mistake right there. He should know that CASA’s motto is: ‘We’re not happy until you’re not happy’.

As pointed out above, CASA is on the downhill run to the Christmas shutdown.
If they miss out this year they will be lucky to operational by March.

That is the rumour doing the rounds, March/April launch. Failure to pass the first attempt would push it back a few more months while they re group.

I take that as a list of horrors to come.
If they don’t know the basics of looking after the A/C what else don’t they know!

I would aim my hope in a more likely direction if I was you. Bonza has some potential upside in the Australian market given how hated QF and JQ are, but still miles to go before they get flying, and then a lot of unlikely luck before they start the Tasman.

Then again, maybe there is merit in daily 737 services Nelson-Roma?

I don’t think QF and JQ are hated as much as you would like. If you notice it’s only Channel 9 and ABC running hate stories against the two, I know plenty of horrible VA stories that never seem to hit the airwaves on those two channels for a very good reason.

Virgin has had some luck on the PR side of things, however operational recovery isn't too flash either. Pure luck they have avoided the media sh!tstorm, operational recovery at VA I would rate as even worse compared to the other two. They learnt early on, not to cancel Bali flights.

Probably not dramatic enough a domestic cancellation. A Current Affair had a field day with those Jetstar widebody cancellations.

Yes, and if you’re going to have $3800 of scuba gear have it bloody insured or you have sentimental jewelry take it with you on board.

Funny how all those items lost in transit made ACA, but their return to owner inside 5 days was never mentioned.

I have the perfect solution for QF/JQ.... Got yr ears on Al?

Sack all the baggage handlers and get pax to load and unload the JQ ULDs and for QF they can just throw their bags in the belly
Re-hire all the baggage handlers and give em a crash course and they can be promoted to flight attendants
Promote every FO to PIC
Promote all the FA's to FO's as they are really just making up numbers up front....

There ya go, staff shortages solved

When Bonza get flying they have an aircraft that can do a lot more than just the fluff being bantered.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they hit the Bali market fairly swiftly, the max has a great range.

I reckon Bazza, Shazza and Sheila could be just about full just going to Bali and back! Who remembers Air Paradise?

Problem is you're talking about the "to" not the "from". Melbourne-Bali, perhaps. But the only other option would be MCY (does MCY have the capability of international flights?). The problem is Bonza are simply ignoring well over half the Australian population.

Do you really think they are going to stick to that plan? They may just do that and, who knows. However you have an AOC, you have MMmmmmaaaaxxxxxxx a few variations to the AOC and off you go.

Yeah tell im he’s dreamin son, or is he?

The point is I reckon if they do pull the right routes with the frequency then they will fly. Look at the free marketing to date and Shazza ain’t even flown.
