After several experiments, the boffins at 453 Squadron RAAF had deduced that 60 minutes at 20000 ft resulted in pommy beer that was almost drinkable.

Alternative fuel trials continue to show disappointing results. However, the source of the trouble has been narrowed to the head.

I tell you, I landed in the French back of beyond on the first bloody half built emergency strip to bring refreshment to the boys and the bloody NAAFI wagon was already there and was under cutting me.

Initial tests used a safe substitute and took place on the ground; now, In-Flight Refuelling is commonplace.

Additional supplies are urgently needed to be flown to HMPOW anchored in the Solent and the BBMF Spitfire is the only current RAF aircraft with sufficient short field capabilities....and it's only a short hop from Eastleigh
